In July of 2006 Miu won the title of "Miss Young Magazine." The "Miss Magazine" contest, sponsored by publisher Kodansha's "Shounen Magazine" and "Young Magazine" comic publications, began in 1982. Voting for the 2006 contest, which featured 16 500 applicants, took place via the magazines and cell phone and internet entries.
